Frequently Asked Questions

Is assembly included in the pricing?
No, invitation and program assembly is not included in the pricing shown online. We can assemble invitations for you, though, for an additional fee. Please contact us for more details.

Where do I specify my invitation details?
After you order, we will be in contact with you via email or phone to get all of the information for your wording. We will send you an initial proof within 1-2 weeks. If you prefer, you can immediately send your wording to us via email to info@cardinalandstraw.com or via our info request form on the Contact page. Please provide your full name and wedding date when emailing us.

How long does it take to get my wedding invitations?
Generally, after final proof approval, we ask that you allow 2-3 weeks for offset/thermograph invitations and 3-4 weeks for letterpress invitations.

When should I order my wedding invitations and programs?
Invitations are generally mailed out 6-8 weeks before the wedding day. Therefore, we recommend that you order about three to four months before the big day. This will allow time for us to send several proofs back and forth before printing. We usually ask brides to make appointments to discuss their programs and any wedding favors they may want printed a month before their wedding. By this time they usually know most of the ceremony details that will be featured in the program.

I'm already 2 months from my wedding day and need my wedding invitations soon! Can you rush my order?
Please contact us immediately with your time restrictions to see if we can help. We will try our best to meet your schedule. There may be additional rush charges if we need to rush order paper, envelopes, printing plates, etc... in order to complete your order on time.

I love the designs on the site but I don't see what I want. Do you provide custom designs?
Yes! All of the invitations on the site were custom designs. We'd be happy to work with you on your custom wedding package. Please Contact us to start your custom design process.

Do you offer other types of printing?
We do. Cardinal and Straw is a branch of Minuteman Press, a commercial print shop located at 160 Moore Drive, Lexington, Kentucky. We offer both social and business printing and can help you with any project you may have. We offer full color digital and offset printing, thermography (raised ink) printing and traditional letterpress printing. Because of our various print capabilities and our experienced staff, we can offer custom designed and printed invitations that will meet just about any budget.

What fonts are available?
We have a vast number of fonts available. Our most popular fonts can be seen on the invitations displayed on the site as well as on our fonts page. If you have a specific font that you want please let us know.

What colors are available?
We offer twelve standard inks which you can view on Our Inks page. Please be aware that the color on your monitor is only a representation of the actual color and will not be an exact match. We will be happy to send you a swatch book with our standard inks so that you can look at the actual color. We hand mix our inks in-house and can mix ink to match virtually any color or wedding theme. Non-standard inks will incur an additional $35 ink charge
